Junior prom is not an idea that everyone is open to, but in my opinion, it’s definitely a fun idea. Junior prom could potentially bring new excitement for what prom might be, who participates, and what it could look like.
Junior prom could be something that’s beneficial for juniors because it reduces pressure so when the moment comes as a senior, by that time you’ll be a pro.
Another good point is practice; the routine and schedule might seem confusing, so it might be helpful to practice a year before the real deal!
Creating long-lasting memories going into your senior year of high school could bring some relief to the pressure of senior stress.
Many people would wonder how it would work, and I think that the best way to get the idea going would be student effort. Getting students involved would also be a great way for them to feel rewarded for what they had accomplished, because it would be their job to ‘put it out there’.
This way, we could raise enough funds to support both the juniors and seniors.
Although I love this idea, which in theory could help create a memorable experience for everyone, it potentially would still have its downsides.
For example, it would take a lot of effort and people to raise enough money for both junior and senior prom. Even if it was achieveable, I’m not sure that people would take the time and energy to do two proms, taking into account the amount of money that would be spent by the students might not exactly be fair – junior and senior year can already cost a lot of money, and adding to that might not be beneficial for the students.
It could also be seen as repetitive – to some, running the same dance twice could seem like a dream, and to others, be exhausting.
In reality, junior prom would be a fun addition to the year, but a bit unrealistic due to funding issues, lack of student participation, and repetitiveness.
