A$ap Rocky – “Don’t Be Dumb”
His highly anticipated album, “Don’t Be Dumb,” was released on Jan. 16 after eight years since his last album, “Testing.” If you are new to A$ap Rocky, you can expect Hip-hop, Trap, and based on his new single “Punk Rocky,” you could also expect a kind of indie or even an alternative sound.
Gorillaz – “The Mountain”
Their last album, “Cracker Island,” came out years ago, and this album takes a different direction than most of their stuff while still keeping signature aspects of their older songs. It has a pop sound like most of their stuff, like on the track “The Happy Dictator.” You also hear electronic sounds on “The God of Lying” and “The Manifesto.” But what all of these have in common is the use of Indian and Pakistani instruments. Overall, it seems like a great album to check out. The Mountain releases Feb 27.
Zach Bryan – “With Heaven On Top”
“With Heaven On Top” came out Jan 9. Zach Bryan is a singer-songwriter and country artist. It is his Sixth studio album and has had mostly positive reviews. To put it simply, this is another great and solid album from Zach Bryan. He will be having a tour supporting the new album with dates across North America and Europe from March to October, featuring special guests like Kings of Leon, Alabama Shakes, and CAAMP. So while the album has been out for a while and has been receiving positive reviews, there is still something to look forward to for Zach Bryan fans.
Bruno Mars – “The Romantic”
After his album “24k Magic” released in 2016, it has been said that he will release a follow-up album called “The Romantic” on Feb 27. His newest single, “I Just Might,” has a cool mashup of pop, soul, and even funk, which will be on the new album. The singer-songwriter has won 16 Grammys, and while Grammys don’t define success, it is safe to say that this is expected to be another great album from him.
Björk – (Name to be determined)
Björk, the singer, songwriter, and composer, has also been speculated to release an album this year, potentially around May or June. Not much is known about it, but Björk has made great music in the past, so it’s something to look forward to. The album will be featured in her upcoming immersive exhibition, Echolalia, at Iceland’s National Gallery in Reykjavik starting May 30. You will still be able to listen to it without going to the exhibition; the gallery is supposed to be great.
