Prom is a popular event amongst seniors and is something many people look forward to, but many still choose to not attend. Why’s that? Many say money, fear of not fitting in, not having a date or people to go with, or they just don’t feel an interest in going is mainly why people don’t show up at prom. But prom is a once in a lifetime event, where you get an excuse to dress up in that big ball gown or fancy tux and have a memorable night with your friends and peers before you all graduate. “It’s the most important dance by far in all of high school,” said Owen Carter. “It’s at an actual venue and will have food and drinks. Unless you can’t pay the price (for tickets) then there is no reason to not go.” Plus there’s also many ways to still go to prom on a budget. “Prom gives me an excuse to wear a big ball gown and my boyfriend bought a really nice project car to take me in.” said Saphia Kiogima. Dressing out for prom is one of the main reasons prom is so fun to go to. Getting to go out and pick the perfect dress or tux, find the best accessories and hair style to enhance the final look. You can show off the best you.
“Prom has been something I’ve been looking forward to since I was a little girl,” said Karime Archer Rivera. “I helped my older sister get ready and plan for prom and ever since then I started to plan what dress I wanted to wear.” Not only do you get an excuse to look fly at prom, it’s such a memorable night that you will look back to and reminisce about later in life. “I’ve been creating a senior box which holds memories such as photos from my last Homecoming, tickets, and other things from senior year,” said Archer Rivera. “And I wanted to add photos with my friends and the tickets from prom so I can look back in the future and remember the special night.” Going to prom is more than just dancing and getting to wear the most stunning outfits, it’s really about the memories you make with the people you grew up with and soon will be graduating with. Which is why I think everyone should go to prom and enjoy one of the last big events of their high school careers with their classmates.
