Spring break offers the perfect time to relax and hang out in the sun. Many students spend this break vacationing. Here are a few students at Shorewood who plan on spending their break outside of Seattle.
Freshman Megan Bupp’s plan for spring break is spending 10 days in Japan with her mom and sister. She’s planning to travel to places like Osaka and Tokyo to see the temples Fushimi Inari Shrine, Nanzen-JJ, Osaka Castle, and many others. Along with enjoying the culture, going to popular tourist spots, and trying a bunch of food, “I’m excited to try kind of all of it, [like] kakiage and fluffy Japanese pancakes,” Bupp says. “We’re going to a cafe just for the fluffy pancakes.” She also plans to spend money on gifts and souvenirs for friends. Throughout the trip, Bupp is most excited to see the Temples. “I find them really cool,” Bupp says.
Anna Haberman, senior, is headed to Las Vegas with her parents during the break. Her main plan for the trip is to see Penn and Teller perform for their 50th anniversary. Penn and Teller are American magicians and entertainers, performing together since the late 1970s. They’re known for putting on a good performance of comedy and illusion.
Haberman plans to go to the tourist attractions in Las Vegas too. “We plan to go to a museum and a soda shop that has sodas from all around the world,” Haberman says. She’s planning to stay in Las Vegas for two days and throughout those two days, she’s most excited to see Penn and Teller perform.
Maggie Norberg, senior, is taking a road trip in California, driving to places like Santa Barbara, Palm Springs, and Orange County. Norberg plans to spend the vacation in California with her mom, hanging out with grandparents and going to a college tour in Orange County. “There’s this admitted students day, and I’m going to talk to department heads,” Norberg says. She’s most excited to see the college campus in Orange County and going to the admitted students day.
Sophomore Allie Hart is headed to Jersey Shore and New York for spring break. She’s spending the week with her family, visiting relatives in New Jersey and doing typical New York tourist attractions, some of them being the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, 9/11 Museum, and the Museum of Natural History. She’s most excited to see her uncle and his family. “They live in New York, so we don’t see them very often,” says Hart.
Whether you’re going out of state or staying in for spring break, it’s the perfect time to relax and spend time in the sun with friends and family.
