As streaming services have become the main platform for entertainment, TV shows have struck a chord with our generation. Recently, there have been a few shows popular with Gen Z that were enjoyed enough to get renewed for new seasons.
Here is a list of popular Gen Z TV shows with new seasons on the way!
“Stranger Things”
Since it first debuted on Netflix in July of 2016, “Stranger Things” has been at the forefront of pop culture, even being Netflix’s second-highest-grossing TV show of all time. From its 80’s aesthetic to its creepy sci-fi plot lines, “Stranger Things” reels viewers in from the first disappearance of Will Byers. Many Gen Z people have grown up with the kids on the show due to its long run time. Sadly, that connection will come to an end soon as the fifth and final season has just wrapped up filming. Although there is no release date for the final season, you can expect the biggest and most heart-wrenching season yet. The last season of “Stranger Things” is sure to rock our worlds and be an at-home blockbuster.
“My Life with the Walter Boys”
Based on the book of the same name that was originally released on Wattpad, “My Life with the Walter Boys” was released on Netflix in December of 2023. It tells the story of recently orphaned Jackie Howard and her adaption to rural Colorado life with the Walter family. Soon she finds herself caught up in a love triangle with two of the Walter brothers: brooding Cole and sweet Alex The first season was released to some mixed reviews but struck a chord with the hopeless romantics of Gen Z. popularity. Season Two of “My Life with the Walter Boys” is to be released at some point in 2025. Will Jackie finally choose a boy? We’ll have to wait and find out.
“Big Mouth”
From the creative mind of comedian Nick Kroll, “Big Mouth” is a cartoon comedy about the embarrassing and awkward but overall hilarious journey of puberty. “Big Mouth” has a star-studded cast with big comedy names such as Nick Kroll, John Mulaney, Jason Mantzoukas, Maya Rudolph, Ayo Edebiri, Jenny Slate, and more. With its first season premiering on Netflix in September of 2017, the show has seven seasons so far and its eighth and final season is set to come out in 2025.
“The Summer I Turned Pretty”
Originally written as a trilogy by Jenny Han, the author of “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before,” the books were adapted to the screen and turned into an Amazon Prime Video TV show. Its first season was released in the summer of 2022 and follows the plot of the first book and its second season was released the following summer with the same plot as the second book. The third and final season of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” will follow the last book of the trilogy by the name of “We’ll Always Have Summer.” It is set to be released this summer. So after a long day at the beach, you can cozy up on the couch with a popsicle and tune in!
