Winter One Acts
What to expect from Drama’s next production
February 8, 2022
If you are unfortunate (fortunate?) enough to consider yourself a theatre kid, you probably already know about One Acts. But let’s catch the jocks, trendsetters, and computer kids up to speed shall we? One Acts are a series of student-produced plays, directed by upperclassmen that usually run in the spring. This year they will be performed the two evenings prior to mid-winter break, Feb. 17 and 18 at 6pm in the main theater. Now what exactly is being performed? Well, don’t worry- in these times of uncertainty, we all could use a little laughter, so these plays are all comedies of some variety.
“Barbie and Ken,” directed by Jade Doerksen and assistant directed/stage managed by Sofía Solano, is a satirical piece written by Sandra Dempsey about the ups and downs of Mattel’s hottest couple who’ve soon found themselves to be parents.
“Questions,” directed by Sunny Park and assistant directed/stage managed by Ally Carter and Nicholas Mathias, is a situational dark comedy written by Shorewood alum Michael Wymer about a game show gone wrong.
“Write to Me,” directed by Molly Krulewitch and assistant directed/stage managed by Abraham Taddei, is a dramatic comedy written by Claire Boyton where relationships are made and tested through letters.
“Emotional,” directed by Kate Clark and assistant directed/stage managed by Hayley Berkman, is a romantic comedy written by Berkman where a girl’s sense of love and logic battle over a crush.
“Roommates,” directed by Ave Hamilton and assistant directed/stage managed by Ally Carter, is a situational comedy written by Shorewood alum Jersey Patterson where a few odd individuals take up residence together.
Tickets for the One Acts can be
obtained for free at the Business Office. They are first come first serve. Each ticket will have a seat number, so we can keep audience members distanced. Hope to see you there!
