How long have you been playing golf? I’ve been playing for three years

Do you have any pre-game rituals? It’s become a habit for me to go to QFC on the way to a match and get m&ms.

What teammate would you like to shout out? Eleanor because she is so open minded and friendly and she makes an amazing teammate. 

What is your karaoke go to? “Boyfriend” by Justin Beiber

Who is your favorite celebrity? Snoop Dog

What is your favorite movie? “The Sound of Music” or “Forrest Gump”

Where is a place that you have never been but want to go? Salzburg, Austria so I can live out my dream of being Sister Maria from “The Sound of Music”

What is your favorite thing you own? My minivan even though technically my parents own it

Jennifer Suh, 11

How long have you been playing golf? I have been playing for three years now

What teammate would you like to shout out? Huge shoutout to Eleanor Shirts! You are amazing and you have improved so much! Keep on being you! Love you Eleanor!

Beach or forest? Beach because I like to tan once in a while

What is your favorite part about spring? My birthday is in spring, so that’s why I love it. And also warm weather!

What is your favorite food? Sushi! A lot of people hate sushi, but I love it so much! I can eat sushi every day for the rest of my life! It is either that or Chipotle.

What fictional place do you want to visit? Neverland because I want to stay young forever and never grow old.

Who is your favorite singer? All of the BTS vocalists! Jin, Jimin, V and Jungkook.

What is your favorite tv show? I am really into a lot of K-dramas, such as “True Beauty,” “Penthouse,” “Vincenzo” and so many more. 

David Lin, 11

How long have you been playing golf? I got into golf freshman year when I started playing with my best friend, Ben Borgida, a fellow captain on the team.

Do you have any pre-game rituals? We listen to Coach Hershey’s inspirational life stories that get us super hyped.

What player would you like to shout out? I definitely want to shout out our new player Finley Hill; his daily hilarious comments and words of wisdom make our team thrive.

Who is your favorite singer? Rex Orange County

What is your favorite holiday? Christmas season = the best season

What is your favorite movie? “Interstellar,” “The Dark Knight”… pretty much any Christopher Nolan directed movie.

Ben Borgida, 11

How long have you been playing golf? I’ve been playing for four years

What teammate would you like to shout out? Spencer Brown. He is always making the team laugh, and he has been an asset to our team with his scores and personality.

What is something not many people know about you? I am an early riser and do most of my homework in the morning

What fictional place do you want to visit? I want to visit the Underland in Gregor the Overlander

Isaac Trull, 12

How long have you been doing track? This is my fourth year for Shorewood, and I did two years at Einstein.

What events do you do? The two mile and the mile

What college are you going to? I am going to Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo

What teammate would you like to shout out? I would like to shout out Nathan Uran. He also runs the mile and two mile with me, and during quarantine me and him ran twice every week, so he was a good way to keep me motivated.

What is something that always cheers you up? Rain, especially after a long sunny period. Ever since I was young the rain has calmed me down, and I like the smell of it.

What is something that not many people know about you? I’m allergic to Christmas trees. A couple of years ago we got a Christmas tree and I felt horrible that whole month we had it. Christmas Eve I didn’t get any sleep because I was so miserable, so now we have artificial trees.

Taejin Thongdee, 12

Cade Tanaka, 12

What teammate would you like to shout out? I’d like to shout out Nathan Uran. He’s just super inspirational to me and he’s really funny.

What is your favorite movie? The last Star Wars movie. It was so bad it was funny.

What is your favorite thing you own? My dogs and cats. I have three dogs and two cats.

Lucy Heagler, 12

How long have you been doing track? I’ve been doing it since my freshman year

What events do you do? I run the 4×2, 300 hurdles, and 4×4

What college are you going to? I’m going to U Dub

What teammate would you like to shout out? Amelia Severn. She works super hard and is very impressive.

What is your favorite book? The Harry Potter series, it’s pretty unbeatable

What is something that always cheers you up? Chocolate ice cream. I love it.

Joey Wu, 12

How long have you been doing track? All four years

What events do you do? I run the 200, 400, and 800, and javelin

What college are you going to? I’m going to the University of Washington Foster School of Business

What teammate would you like to shout out? Cary Tanaka because she works really hard, she’s really fast, and she’s a quick learner.

What is your biggest pet peeve? When people fart and don’t admit it

What is your favorite holiday? Chinese New Year because it’s right after my birthday, so I get birthday money and Chinese New Year money, and end up being super rich.

What is your favorite school subject? English. I know people hate writing, but I don’t mind it.

Jules Carroll, 12

How long have you been doing track? I’ve been doing it for four years at Shorewood, and six years in total with Einstein

What events do you do? I usually do distance events, so the mile and the 4×4, and sometimes the 800 and two mile. I’ve also done javelin, discus, and shotput this year.

What college are you going to? I’m going to the University of Alaska, Fairbanks and I’ll be in the student firefighter program

What teammate would you like to shout out? Molly McGeoy has done really well this year in all the events she’s tried.

What is something not many people know about you? I’m pretty into motorcycles. I got my motorcycle permit and I’m working on getting my endorsement.

Who is your favorite athlete? Jordan Morris. He has type 1 diabetes as well and he was on the Sounders for a long time.

What is your favorite school subject? I really like anatomy and physiology

Mina DiVirgillio, 12

How long have you been doing track? Since seventh grade

What events do you do? I do the 100, 200, 4×1, and 4×2

What college are you going to? I’m going to Western Washington University

What teammate would you like to shout out? Sidney McDaniel. She has such a good attitude, you can tell she’s really working at it, and it’s totally paying off for her in the meets.

Who is your favorite celebrity? Nicki Minaj is really funny

Who is your favorite professional athlete? Flo-Jo, she’s so iconic with her outfits

What is your favorite thing about spring? I don’t want to sound like a suck up, but track, and the sun finally coming back after a horrible winter.

What is your favorite thing you own? I have these fanny pack slides. They zip open and you can put stuff in, and they’re neon pink.

Alex Eng, 12

What college are you going to? I am attending the University of Washington

What teammate would you like to shout out? Issak Abraham is a great player and a humble person. I am excited to come back next year and watch them beat Shorecrest.

What is your favorite thing about spring? I love how it finally gets bright outside and it almost feels like summer, but it’s not too hot.

Sarah Mazengia, 12

How long have you been playing softball? I started by playing baseball when I was five and switched to softball when I was ten years old and have been playing ever since

What positions do you play? I’m an infield utility player so I play every infield position, but I enjoy the corners the most. 

Are you going to play in college? What college are you going to? Yes, I have signed and will play for Santiago Canyon in California

What teammate would you like to shout out? All the JV players, I wish I could have been a bigger support for your start of Shorewood softball and I wish you all the best in the coming seasons.

What is something not many people know about you? I’m really close with my family of 8, especially my sisters.

What is your favorite school subject? Probably science, I am planning on pursuing a degree in kinesiology.

What teammate would you like to shout out? Avery Grutz. She was a little nervous at first (like everyone is) but every time she went up to the plate she got on base and did her job. She’s always cheering everyone on and brings such positive energy to the team.
