10 fun activities to do this summer
May 17, 2021
Summer is right around the corner! Last summer was crazy, separated from friends and family, plans cancelled, and more. This summer, we are all excited to try some new things. From beach days to trips to museums, hopefully you can get some inspiration for your summer and start planning!
- Watch the sunset! We have so many great places around us to watch the sunset such as Richmond Beach Saltwater Park, Brackett’sLanding, Sunset Hill Park, Kayu Kayu Park, Marina Beach Park, Boeing Creek Park and Carkeek Park, just to name a few.
- Sunrises are a little more difficult to watch around here, but Seattle has some great places! Check out Louisa Boren Park, Olympic Sculpture Park, and Kerry Park.
- Thrifting is also super fun to do, especially with friends! You can even make it a whole outing. Head to the Goodwill in Edmonds and grab something to eat or drink at Starbucks or Subway, or eat locally at Ono Poke or Jaiiya Cafe right across the street! For other options, you can also check out the Goodwill in Shoreline, Plato’s Closet in Lynnwood, or The Salvation Army and Deseret Thrift Store in Shoreline.
- Museums are always a one of a kind experience! Book appointments at the Seattle Selfie Museum in downtown Seattle, full of tons of fun, unique, selfie spots! The Seattle Art Museum is also open featuring lots of interesting exhibits, as well as the Seattle Asian Art Museum and Olympic Sculpture Park.
- Farmer’s markets are a summer staple and some are open this spring and summer! Check out the Edmonds Farmers Market open Saturdays from 9am-2pm, May 1st to Oct. 9, and the Shoreline Farmers Market, open Saturdays from 10am-2pm, June 5 to Oct. 2.
- Go shopping! Want to shop outside, be more COVID safe and able to enjoy the summer weather? U Village is a great option to shop but not get stuck in the mall craziness! Since U Village is outside, it makes it even more COVID safe! Downtown Edmonds is also a great place to walk around outdoors and shop small at local shops and so many great places to eat.
- Have a picnic. Make a picnic lunch or grab take out and bring it to the park, beach, backyard or even your living room floor! You can make a classic sandwich, or just throw together a bunch of snacks.
- Head to the beach to swim, paddle board or even use floaties! Beaches such as Richmond Beach Saltwater Park in Shoreline and Marina Beach and Brackett’s Landing in Edmonds are great for all three.
- Get crafty! Make clay rings and funky candles! You can find tons of videos on how on TikTok!
- Make a scrap-book/journal with printed photos from the whole summer or just things you did over the summer. You can print out photos using an HP Sprocket Photo Printer. You could also use instant camera or disposable camera this summer. You can reduce, reuse and recycle when scrapbooking by using old packaging, book pages, posters or magazine pages from around your house or even thrift stores. You can also buy fun paper, stickers, pens, paint and other supplies from Joanne’s, Michael’s, or local art stores, such as Art Spot in downtown Edmonds. Think out of the box. Get creative.
Make this summer one to remember!
